Social Security Disability

Some time ago (a little over 20 years) I fell off a three story building crushing my spine,after three months in a wheel chair I was determined to walk (Big mistake) I applied for help from the government, but because I was contract labor I was only able to receive the minimum. This created a hardship for my wife (at the time) and put a major strain on those who WERE my family.

So I was faced with the option of getting a job, not hard to do except when I stand up straight I can easly see my feet. Numerous doctors say "We can help" But when it came down to it all the help I got was a reoccuring staph infection. But thats a different story, Back to the point.

After ALOT of coaxing from friends and family I hired a lawyer and they took my case, at first I was deneied, my lawyer said "Its no big deal this is comman" so we appealed and I was approved, until they saw my wifes income... She makes to much money...... Well to them to much money is below the poverity level. I contacted my lawyer and was advised to DIVORCE my wife so I could get benifets.

I guess what the fourm is about is why should I give up my life and wife for benifets that are to be used for cases like this.
